A WordPress Website Maintenance Plan Keeps Your Website Healthy
A WordPress website contains a variety of software components including a Content Management System (CMS), a theme for the design, and plugins for specialized functionality. Software updates for these components become available on a regular basis containing new features, bug fixes, and security patches. They must be applied to your website to keep it running smoothly and to help protect it from being hacked.
Failure to keep a website updated greatly increases the likelihood that it will get hacked, which can destroy your website and wreak havoc on your online presence and peace of mind.
Overview of Website Maintenance Plans
Thomson Web Services provides three levels of affordable website maintenance plans. You can have peace of mind knowing that your website is cared for while you concentrate on running your business.
The Essential Plan ensures your WordPress site remains updated with all software updates (CMS, theme, and plugins). Your website is monitored weekly for updates, and they are applied to your site and tested to verify issues aren’t introduced by the update. A complete website backup is run before and after the updates, and the backup is stored offsite in a secure location.
The Basic Plan includes all the components of the Essential Plan plus an additional 30 minutes of support per month to support your website and your business. This support could be of any form and could include small tasks such as minor website updates and phone or email consultation to address any questions you might have.
Complete Security Plan
The Complete Security Plan includes all the components of the Basic Plan plus integration with Sucuri Website Security. Sucuri, a leader in website security, stops attacks against your website and monitors it and cleans it in the unlikely case of an attack. This includes:
- Continuous website monitoring to detect security threats
- Protection from hackers trying to take down your site
- Complete hack cleanup by a Sucuri security professional including blacklist warnings
- Performance improvements to make your website faster
WordPress Website Updates
If you maintain your WordPress website on your own, it can be a daunting task to add a new feature to your website. You may not have the expertise or the time to do the work yourself. Perhaps you want to add a photo gallery, calendar, or some other feature to your site. There are typically multiple WordPress plugins you can use to add the new feature, but it can be time consuming and overwhelming to find the best plugin for the job.
You may be concerned about the state of your website while making these changes. If you apply the updates to the live site, you run the risk of accidentally breaking your website while adding the feature. The best way to handle this is to replicate your existing site elsewhere and first add the changes to the site copy. This allows you to test the changes before applying them to the live site.
Adding new features to a website can be time-consuming and tricky if not done right. If you need professional assistance, I provide WordPress website update services at affordable rates.
